Abuti aka Dj-Blocc
Abuti DJ Blocc has been a staple in the community from a young age. As an ambassador of Garifuna culture, DJ Blocc has worked effortlessly to bring the word “Garifuna” to the mainstream. To accomplish this goal, DJ Blocc submerged himself in the culture. Now a musician, artist, DJ, entertainer, and mentor to many new up and coming artists and musicians, DJ Blocc continues to bring a unique and charismatic version of entertainment to the stage.
Growing up in Los Angeles California, as a young boy, Dj Blocc had a decision to make, either be “for the streets'' or be “for the music.” He chose the latter. Being inspired by the LA greats he grew up listening to legends such as Guewie Posses, Ibayani Band, Babylon Warriors, Libaya Baba, Aziatic, DJ Gill, DJ Raymond, DJ Evon, DJ Johnny, DJ Smooth and so many more, DJ Blocc started learning the art of music. He listened and watched videos of Master Drummers such as Bato, Tati, Jess Flores, Lupe, Teigi and Bird. Following up with a love for the drum, Blocc continued to practice and soon started beating drums for different bands and artists. During that time, he also realized that he wasn’t a “one trick pony.” He also had a talent for mixing on the 1’s and 2’s. DJ Blocc developed a popularity for DJing at parties, he expanded his musical skill sets beyond playing the drums and other musical instruments; the artist Abuti was formed.
Abuti has brought you Punta Rock hits such as “Guraba” “Nanigi.” He has performed across the United States and Belize. Currently, he is working on a follow up to his smash album “Linarü Ibagari” and is on tour with his Abuti Band to a city near you.
